Lycans Can't Catch Up To Legion

The Los Angeles Lycans came into Week 2 confidant. They ended up leaving disgruntled and disgusted. Having to reschedule their Week 2 Pacific Division game versus the Vancouver Legion (2-0), the Lycans (1-1) loss 30-24. "I believe we have the right plays in our playbook," OC Ryan Yoseph said at the Lycans post-game presser. "Vancouver was just a better team tonight."

The Lycans were unable to do anything offensively or defensively on the 23rd of Sunday. Legion Kicker and former Lycans Punter Chance Touwin made a 34-yard FG on Legions first possession, making the score 3-0. Vancouver caused another LA 3-and-out on LA's second offensive possession. Driving the ball down the field, Legion HB Robert Redford rushed for 3 yards into the endzone, making the score 10-3 in the first quarter.

LA's CB Jack Hacksaw caused the games first turnover, intercepting a Tom Pepper pass intended for Vancouver WR Kendra Hall. The Lycans only score of the first half was a Rob Emms 18-yard FG with 8:30 left in the 2nd quarter. With 2:54 left in the half, Robert Redford rushed for 4 yards and his second touchdown.

The Legion went into halftime hanging 17 points on LA. "I'll fully take the blame on tonight," a frustrated DC Sully Richardson said. "We have standards here for this organization; and, those standards were not met. I've got to do a better job of preparing these men and women."

Coming out of halftime, the Legion Chance Touwin tacked on 3 more points with a 30-yard FG to make the score 20-3. Los Angeles put together a complete drive with Lycan HB Robert Johnson rushing to the endzone for a much-needed 29-yard touchdown.

With 6:30 left in the 3rd quarter, Lycans were still down 20-10. FS Rachelle Colston picked off QB Tom Pepper to give the ball back to the Lycans. Two plays later, Vancouver CB Ashley Rose-Finch picked off QB Sully Richardson. On their next series, QB Pepper shrugged off DE Brogan Speraw but DT Gary Marx cleaned it up for a 10-yard sack. That didn't stop the Legion from converting on two different occasions.

Despite the loss, HB Robert Johnson finished with 66 rushing yards on 10 attempts and a TD.
Bowl On!

At the beginning of the 4th quarter, Vancouver HB Robert Redford ran in a 2-yard touchdown. He scored a total of 3 and made the score 27-10 with 10:24 left in the game. On the following possession, FB Tommy Ramen scored his first rushing touchdown from 3 yards out. Lycans were down by 10-points, with a score of 27-17.

The Lycans were down by 6 with 23 seconds left in the game. The Lycans attempted an onside kick; but, the Legion recovered and ultimately sealed the game.

Vancouver's WR core were vital in the Pacific Division matchup. "Kendra Hall (10 for 129 yds.) and Brett Killian (8 for 91 yds.) were beasts tonight," said Lycans CB Jack Hacksaw. "Everyone on Vancouver's offense contributed. They performed like clockwork." Though QB Tom Pepper had 3 INTs (32-40 for 331 yds), Robert Redford helped with a hard 25 rushes for 84 yds and 3 TDs.

QB Sully Richardson finished the night 34-53, 273 yds, 1 TD and 2 INTs. HB Robert Johnson chimed in with 1o rushes for 66 yds and a TD. WR Davius Reid had the only receiving touchdown. He ended his day with 8 receptions for 81 yards. TE Jack Flash came in clutch in the 4th quarter. He was 7 for 69 yards (nice). "I believe the ball was distributed well tonight," QB Richardson said. "I've got to stop making stupid plays, put some air under the ball, and help us to live to play another series. We'll get things moving in the right direction."

The Lycans were not too happy about their performance versus the Legion. "Better preparation" has been emphasized at Week 3 practices.
